based on the news story of
HongKong’s sudden surge in Covid-19 cases in March 2022, its panic and huge amount of transportation, some ilegally, into the city next to it, my home city–ShenZhen. 

ShenZhen councils took drastic measures to manage the panic; going into full lockdown for weeks, people lining up in their community buildings to do antigen tests, government workers like my father has to volunteer to test people.
Officials went into apartments and homes, searching under beds, in cupboards, behind doors for ‘people who are avoiding covid tests’.

The whole situation suggested a feeling of absurdity and insanity to me, and i wrote something that accompanies it well: 

I, too, felt as lonely as I do
Saw the past wanderers through
There was not but much to be done
Except to write nonsense which makes me calm
For there were not much ways one can make sense
Of such a world full of the crazed and incensed
